To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

This post is rather alarming, this poor ferret sounds miserable.

I haven't followed all the responses to the original post, so hope I am not repeating information. If so, my apologies.
You mention the ferret has received xray and ultrasound and everything "seems" alright. Were these tests done on the abdominal area or the entire GI tract? Specifically, were any visual tests done on this poor ferret's esophagus? Was barium used? What were the results of his blood work?

This sounds to me like a stricture or neoplasm in the esophageal tract....or worse, megaesophagus. If this is the case, all that saliva can easily cause aspiration pneumonia. Is this little guy getting any medication for the nausea, like sucralfate or any of the H2 receptor blockers?

I wouldn't push on this poor baby's stomach, or any other part of his body!
