Higher hormone levels generally produce greater symptoms. Whether or not higher levels indicate how advanced the disease is I honestly don't know. I can say that I have had ferrets with extremely high levels that were successfully treated for years with lupron. I would think that if the high hormone levels did indicate advanced disease that this would not be the case, though this is just my guess.
