Subject: [ferrethealth] Gagging
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have an 8 year old ferret that has started to gag when drinking water. She will take a few sips, snort, shake her head, gag and then paw at her mouth. I also noticed that when she eats kibble she turns her head sideways to the left. Her teeth were checked and no trouble was found. I have another appointment for her but would like to know if anyone else has had this issue. She has started to refuse to eat kibble, even crunched up. I have been feeding her soup every four hours and I mix in extra water. She has been maintaining her weight and while she gets frustrated with drinking she seems to be getting adequate intake.I also noticed that her squeaker is broke, her voice, no longer seems to be there. Her voice is airy and barely audible. Could we be talking cancer or tumor in her throat? Will this show up on an xray? Her appointment is Friday 1/22 but I would really like a heads up as to what to ask the vet to look for.
