Subject: [ferrethealth] Odd jaw movement
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

related to eating? You dont' say age, any other issues with ferret but this kind of sounds like grinding of teeth- which can indicate pain in stomach. Usually while or after eating or drinking.
If grinding, needs to see vet for assessment of mouth/gums/teeth and overall health. if ferret a little older, have vet check a glucose level as well.
Carafate can be a temp fix, given before meals. But still would need more detailed exam and want to get to cause.

Hello-

I have a ferret that started moving it's jaw in a kind of lip smacking motion. It's brief and intermittent and it just started today.

Anyone have a theory about this?

Thank you!

Jilli
