Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferrets cats and upper respiratory problems.
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I'm going to try and keep a very long story short but here it goes. The ferrets live at my boyfriend's house at the moment, but are at my house for the week.

I recently adopted a 6 year old cat from the local humane society. I adopted her knowing that she has/is prone to URI's, today while looking up the proper dosage for a supplement that is supposed to help her with her URIs (L-Lysine) I read that URI's in cats are contagious to ferrets.

I live in a bachelor apartment and the ferrets are at my home now, my boyfriends living arrangements are changing in the very near future and the ferrets were going to be living with me full time but now I am worried.

Is it possible to keep the ferrets safe while living with a cat that gets URI's. I have no idea what to do in this situation and I don't currently have internet access so I have very limited time on the computer to research this.

If anyone has any opinions or suggestions on this I would really appreciate some advice.
