Subject: [ferrethealth] respiratory: New to group and have a problem
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

hi im new to da group my ferret has a cold ive been force feeding her

[Two concerns here:
1. Ferrets do NOT get colds.
They DO get bacterial sinus infections,
pneumonia, influenza, and some other
more serious problems. Time for a
vet visit!
(See past ferret expert veterinary posts

2. Force feeding itself can cause
aspiration pneumonia if done wrong
which is why the vets on the FHL have
asked that the moderators advise that
people finger feed or spoon feed sick
ones warmed foods whenever possible
and learn how to safely do more serious
forms of feeding through hands on
instruction by a vet or vet tech.
The failure to eat normally is another
reason for a vet visit.

If you do not have a ferret vet you can
begin looking in
