Hi, Jules,

It sure looks like Isis still has adrenal disease.

When my Pertwee (also a white ferret, but he had red eyes) had his
first adrenal surgery the left gland was obviously enlarged and the
right was small. Our vet removed the left gland but symptoms
persisted and got worse. Six weeks later he went in and the right was
larger than the left had been at the time of the first surgery.
Pathology on both glands came back with a report of adrenal
carcinomas. What our vet at the time told us was that sometimes the
tumor in one gland suppresses the other. It looks like you might be
dealing with a similar situation.

I would definitely take Isis back to the vet. If it turns out that
she does need a second surgery please take the time to read all you
can on surgically induced Addison's Disease and the worst case: an
Addisonian Crisis. These are very well covered in the FHL archives
and are possible side effects of the surgery if Isis' electrolytes get
out of balance. She will also need medication for the rest of her
life to keep them in balance.

The good news is that if this is adrenal again a ferret can live a
normal, happy life without adrenal glands and medication. Pertwee
lived for nearly four years after his second adrenal surgery.

The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet. I don't even play one
on TV. I'm just a moderately experienced ferret owner who has seen
something similar to what you are seeing.

All the best,
Caity and the terrific trio (Ella, Zephyr and Chin Soon)
