Subject: [ferrethealth] Seizure unrelated to insulinoma
I have a ferret in my rescue that had violent seizures about a month ago.
She was stabilized at my vet with IV, valium, and injectible antibiotics.
None of the BG tests taken during the time she was seizing showed anything
other than normal readings. She has been home now for a month. We stopped
the antibiotic (which was changed to oral when she came home) after 10 days.
Last week her BG was 192, so we have gradually reduced the dose of Pred. We
are now stopping it altogether because today her BG was 328. Has anyone
seen anything like this? Does anyone have any idea what we might do to help
her? She currently seems stable and happy despite this BG reading.
Betty
