Subject: [ferrethealth] weasels and ferrets
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I am not sure if this will be allowed posting due to the subject matter, but I have no other place else (that speaks English) to try.

A temporary worker in Japan sought me out because s/he needed to place their ferret in a shelter before s/he returned home. However, the 'ferret' in question turned out to be a weasel. (Apparently a weakened, lost rescue.)

Being that weasels and ferrets are related to a certain degree, I am wondering if it would be possible to give the weasel the distemper and rabies shots it needs to be accepted into a shelter. Also, what are the recommended doses?

*The current caretaker has no scale so I would say to dose according to 'average' weasel weight.

Thank you.
