Subject: [ferrethealth] Wrong CD vaccination
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>
The K9 combined vaccine is all that is available for distemper here, after
discussion with our vet, (the combination vaccine can lead to reactions in
ferrets due to the other parts, and distemper hasn't been seen even in dogs
in this country in some time), we decided not to vaccinate our guys - after
their upsets, and getting them fixed we though a bad reaction might be to
upsetting for them, for what seemed very little gain. Likewise unless our
guys were leaving the country we have no need to do rabies.
You have no need to revaccinate with the 'correct' shot you re covered for
distemper, it's just you're also covered for something unnecessary.

I checked the archives and see that the combo vaccine has been used in other
countries without reported incident, which eases my mind somewhat. My
question is, should this little one receive the proper Purevax vaccine next
week?
I would appreciate any thoughts/comments regarding giving another distemper
shot.
