Hi,

The fact that four months have elapsed makes it seem even more likely
to me that adrenal disease is still present. While the discussion on
this list is great for getting ideas to discuss with your vet, I do
think your conclusion that Isis needs another vet visit is absolutely
the right answer.

I was also a bit taken aback by the one poster who said she lad little
experience with ferrets surviving adrenal surgery, implying that the
mortality rate is high. 8 of my ferrets over the years have had a
total of 10 adrenal surgeries. The survival rate in that admittedly
non-scientific small sample has been 100%. There was one very
neglected rescue who came to us bald and with all the other symptoms
of very advanced adrenal disease that had long been neglected. She
was 5.5 years old and was the only ferret I've lost to adrenal
surgery. FWIW, the surgeries were done by two different vets since
our original vet has retired.

If your vet has a relatively high mortality rate for adrenal surgery I
would respectfully suggest seeking out another vet if at all possible.

All the best,
Caity and the terrific trio (Ella, Zephyr and Chin Soon)
