Subject: [ferrethealth] Looking for some answers
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Last night we took our male ferret to an emerg. vet to be put to sleep. My daughter went in to clean the cage and there was blood everywhere. It looked as if his bowels were coming out is rectum. He was in horrible pain. He was to receive his second Luprum shot this upcoming Sat. Before that he was pooping blood, which we took him to the vet for and got cleared up. He was rescured and was not a real healthy looking ferret from the start. He was a little slow and not all with it. When we took him straight into the vet, which we are suprised that he even made the hour car ride in. We are suprised he has not bleed out at this point. Our emerg. vet here, you have two choices when you get in there. Exam or put to sleep. I am hoping we made the right choice here. We just had him put to sleep, he was in a lot of pain and he had been going down hill for some time now. Has anyone ever experienced where is looks as if the the bowels are coming out the rectum? What causes it or can this
be something else?

Thanks,

Desi
