Subject: [ferrethealth] Sudden rage attacks

[The people who want to discuss training with you
will do so off-list, but I am sure that like me the
others are wondering what has been done to treat
that adrenal disease, and what the diagnosis was
based upon. Adrenal disease quite often DOES
affect behavior markedly with the way varying with
individuals, and a diseased right adrenal can grow
into the liver.

Hello
I have a 4 yrs old ferret named Venus. She's with me since the age 6-7 months.

A little important background:
I got her from someone who treated her badly, he kept her with 5 other ferrets in a very small cage and only let them out 10 mins a day in a small shower.
Anyways, she was very aggressive and I had holes and blood in my hands and legs.
With the help of an experienced friend, we had a little "manners camp", and the result was a ferret that you can play with, sometimes can give you little kisses, but still you have to be very careful with her if you have wet hands, or short pants.
We learned how to live with her safely, with a few safety measures.

In the last 2 and some years she has been living in her own room, a very big one. At first she was living with Valentino, who passed away 2 years ago. Since then she has been living with Jade, 1.5 yrs old ferret.
Valentino and Jade are both very friendly and the opposite of Venus.

In the last year, Venus was with Jade in their room and we barely had the time to take them out for a trip or a walk (only 1-2 times).
In the last 3 weeks we have been taking them to visit other ferrets in a park every weekend. Venus is very bossy and territorial and bites every ferret she sees until that ferret knows she's the boss.

The last time we took them to the park Venus was over-territorial and didn't go to sleep almost at all for 3 hours. Just ran around the park and bite other ferrets.
It was also near the time that she had her vaccination (Puppy DP).

Since them, she keeps asking us to take her out of her room, and she is very aggressive to us and to Jade. Jade has bites and blood all over her ears and she is very afraid of Venus.

I should mention that 1.5 yrs ago she (Venus) was diagnosed with Adrenal Disease, and also they saw in the Ultrasound something near her liver. They said it could be cancer but could be also nothing. We never checked it cause it means going into surgery and we didn't want her. We thought- as long as she lives happily, we don't care what she has, cause you can't cure cancer anyway and we weren't going to start chemotherapy.
After a few months we checked the Adrenals again and it was normal. That was a year ago.

And the questions:
Could it be that a disease is causing her to be aggressive?
Could it be the vaccination?
Or do you think it's a behavioral problem?
What do you recommend we should do? We are very afraid of her, and Jade is suffering with her. Jade is very gentle..

Thank you
Ayelet and Reut from Israel
