Subject: [ferrethealth] Litter Box Chewing?

[Replies that are entirely training ones need to
be sent directly to Deana, but possible causes
such as dealing with misplaced dental eruption,
having a dental arcade that is too small for the
teeth, retaining a trapped kit tooth with resulting
infection, etc. can be posted to the FHL since they
are health issues. Those things do happen and
some kits have to have vets remove teeth.

Hi. I have a 4 month old deaf Silver mitt Ferret with a very unusual habit. She chews on the rim of her litter box when she eats. I have tried both moistening her food and giving it dry, but for some reason when she takes a bite of her food, she goes and chews on her litter box rim while eating. I have had several ferrets in my lifetime and this is the first one with this strange of an eating habit. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on how to break her of this?
