[Excessive licking of others during adrenal
disease appears to often be behavioral -- maybe=20
a weird take-off on kit care grooming. Toes are
sometimes the objects of affection and they
do look a bit like pinkie ferrets. They sometimes
act more kits like when ill, but with adrenal disease
they often act like protective parents which could
make sense with the hormonal changes ferret
adrenal disease causes.=20

There certainly could be other reasons, both
behavioral and physiological, and as you also
point out they often seem to know where there is
a sore place or injury, even a previous one.
