Subject: [ferrethealth] Adrenal Disease or Something Worse???
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I have=A0a 4 year old ferre who has been experiencing one some times two ag=
gressive attacks, on another ferret, per day.=A0 He does this most days, bu=
t=A0not every single day.=A0 I had asked if this could be early Adrenal dis=
ease before but I noticed something new.=A0 he has lost weight over the las=
t couple months.
=A0
Some more history a couple months ago he had loose runny stools, not every =
time but several and some of them smelled pretty bad, something I had never=
smelled before, so I can't describe it.=A0 At that time we took him to our=
vet and he examined a sample and found all one type of bacteria (spore for=
ming) and not several different types.=A0 We have not had it analyzed beyon=
d him looking at it.=A0 He did have two 10 day courses of Clavamox.=A0 The =
stool got=A0a lot better but then seemed to get worse and then better or mo=
stly=A0better.=A0 We are wondering if one of the treats we give was causing=
it because we have stopped giving it out and the stools got better after a=
few days.
=A0
Today I thought he looked thinner than normal so we weighed him, unfortunat=
ely we have been lax on weighing our fuzzies so our data is a bit old.=A0 A=
s I remember a couple months ago he weighed 2 lbs 5 ounces and today he wei=
ghed 1 lbs 13 and 1/2 ounces.=A0 That is a 7 and 1/2 ounce loss in a couple=
months.=A0 This is the=A0lightest he has ever weighed and since we go him =
over two and a half years ago.
=A0
He eats and plays normally, maybe a little less active than he used to but =
that is similar to what our other fuzzies are doing.=A0 He did war dance my=
wife a couple days ago.=A0 His hair is soft and full, he looks alert and s=
weet as always.
=A0
In light of his weight loss, fear is taking over and I'm very very worried =
for him.=A0=A0 Can simple (non cancerous) adrenal disease cause his weight =
loss?=A0 Could this be Adrenal Cancer?=A0 Could it be Lymphoma?=A0 I really=
doubt its normal weight change from winter to summer.
=A0
=A0
We will be going to our vet tomorrow but I would like any information I can=
get.
=A0
Thank you
=A0
Mike
