We have decided to go for ultrasound guided biopsies
on Mornie which may be able to tell us if she is dealing
with lymphoma or carcinoma, since the approaches
would differ depending on which is present and shows
up in the aspirates. We know there is always the risk with
aspirates of not grabbing the right cells to know what is
happening but it's the best option given how she appears
on physical examination, with a large tumor appearing
in just a couple of weeks and her spleen now having
uneven margins.
If carcinoma as long as it is restricted to one or more
adrenals then surgery is a better option, but at this time
that appears less likely as the culprit.
If lymphoma then surgery is better avoided and in that
case we are likely to give the Tufts protocol a go for her.
