You really have to be careful when syringe feeding. You have to know when to sqeeze a little more into his mouth, which is after he's swallowed what is in there and had the chance to take a breath. And only a little food at a time. You really need an experienced person to demonstrate before you do it on your own.

A better thing to try is to see if he'll eat more either from the bowl or from a spoon while sitting on your lap. This often coaxes more appetite from our ferrets when they are sick. You could also try adding a little more ferretone sprinkled on the top of the soup (assuming he likes ferretone). This will also sometimes help to get a sick ferret to eat more on his own.
