Mike-
Also try warming the baby food in the microwave with a little water to warm it. To get my baby to eat it, i would put a little on the tip of my finger and touch his mouth with it to get him to taste it first and continue to do this until he is willingly eating it on his own.
Also, if I am syringe feeding a sickie, I use a 1cc syringe instead of anything bigger. It feeds them slower and you are less likely to push too much into the mouth for he/she to choke on or aspirate. It takes longer, but it is so much easier and more goes into their mouth instead of all over their face.

[Reminder:
FHL vets want people to always be reminded to learn
syringe feeding from a treating veterinarian or vet
tech to avoid the risk of aspiration pneumonia.
