Thanks for the feedback. My veterinarian did his first surgery and (now that I think of it) keeps notes of how much she removes during surgery. She may give me a choice - if the options are equal in outcome - on what to do, but usually suggests what is best for the ferret. Foster is the youngest ferret I've had (the only one I actually purchased - mea culpa - from out of state)and I was hoping that the early surgery meant no recurrence. Another FHL member also kindly sent me some useful information on the comparative benefits of surgery versus medical treatment. At least we have his treatment file, and she can give her best advice based on what she did the first time around. I'll see what she says after I drop him off this lunchtime.
