Some things, such as a hairball blockage, would not show up on a regular x-ray, but would show up on a barium x-ray. Did you run a barium x-ray? A blockage by hairball or some other unknown object would be consistent with bacterial infection, loss of appetite, weird colored feces, and small feces. A few weeks ago our boy Pop started losing his appetite, losing weight, and having weird, small, and smelly feces/diarrhea. We gave him several doses of Ferretlax over a 2-day span, and he passed the biggest hairball I've ever seen in a ferret. Actually, hair log is a more accurate description. After that, he went back to normal quickly, started eating like a horse again, and quickly gained back his weight and energy.
