Peppie went back to the vet this morning.=C2=A0 After two weeks on the anti=
biotic he's eating on his own again and has put a little weight on (he weig=
hts 2.5lbs) but his teeth grinding continues and he's much less active.=C2=
=A0 At the suggestion of several people who responded to me I scheduled him=
for a blood glucose check.
=C2=A0
Results of the BG test came back at 84 which my vet considered borderline l=
ow.=C2=A0 Can anyone tell me what the=C2=A0'normal' range for a ferret is?=
=C2=A0 His results two years ago when a full blood work-up was done was 96 =
and he was very, very sick and not eating=C2=A0at that time.=C2=A0 Enough b=
lood was drawn today=C2=A0to run the panel again and see if those results c=
onfirm what my vet saw today.=C2=A0 If they do confirm, she wants to start =
Peppie on prednisone.=C2=A0 I am hoping those results will come back Monday=
.=C2=A0 In the meantime my vet suggested keeping Peppie on a high protein d=
iet.=C2=A0=C2=A0He always has access to=C2=A0a mix of kibble in his cage in=
cluding 8-in-1 Ultimate, Totally Ferret Active and Chicken Soup for=C2=A0ki=
ttens and I am going to offer him duck soup (Science Diet A/D & Turkey baby=
food)=C2=A02-3 times a day.=C2=A0
=C2=A0
Thanks to all who responded.=C2=A0 I would=C2=A0appreciate any other words =
of advice on how to proceed from here.=C2=A0
