Subject: [ferrethealth] ferret with cough=20

The answer depends on what is causing the cough.=C2=A0 You likely will have=
to take the ferret back to the vet to determine if lungs are clear or not?=
that can determine if problem is in the lungs, a chest xray would then be =
done to see what is going on.

Coughing can be many things, and since this is a new problem likely will in=
volve your vet. Ferrets dont' usually get 'colds' but if nose is congested,=
sneezing, and nasal secretions this can cause a cough too, and if the ferr=
et has fever, thick nasal discharge or not eating too, also needs vet visit=
.

Adrenal disease in itself won't cause coughing, you don't say what the trea=
tment was.=C2=A0 If the ferret is just post surgery for adrenal, a cough ma=
y be more worrisome or complication related to surgery?=C2=A0

Most important is how the ferret is breathing ( if fast, labored or hard ne=
eds vet care right away), is eating or not and if active or not.

Good luck,

Patty Kaczorowski
