Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret hair loss in some parts..
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi, im writting you because my ferret is loosing hair. I took him to the vet, but as his hair is growing in some places, they dont think is adrenal. Im worried because in some parts he is bold, but at the same time, in others the hair is growing. The vet thinks its because of flea allergy, since his skin has some orange dots, but i dont see any. Can somebody help me?
Thank you
janine

[From your description either is possible, but if
the fur is coming back from getting rid of fleas
then if you give Lupron Depot or Suprelorin right
now you will not know which caused the fur gain.
Then again, it would not hurt to use either, and
sometimes ferrets who have adrenal disease do
regain fur after seasonal sheds.

If your vet can sent a specimen internationally
for testing yours would be a perfect candidate
for the ferret adrenal test provided by the
