How old is he?

Dehydration is a more serious risk. He needs fluids! If he gets too dehydrated his internal organs will start to shut down and he can die. He can also develop a rectal prolapse, where his inside protrudes out his anus.

Your vet can give him sub-q hydration and can show you how to do this at home, if you're up for it.

Without knowing what is causing his diarreah I wouldn't agree that keeping him on his regular food is a good idea. He may have developed an allergy to his regular food. Adding 1/2 tsp up to 1 TBS 100% pure pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling) to a soupy duk soup will at least slow down the liquid diarreah.

Is the boiled chicken pureed? You can add the pumpkin to that and lots of water to help with hydration.

Did the vet check his stool?
