The swollen lymph node near his GI tract was the only one that looked enlarged on xrays. It came back negative for cancer. His liver, spleen, and kidneys were normal.
Even when he was very ill he had a great appetite for soup when we fed him, although I suspect he didn't get up in the middle of the day to eat.
The electrophoresis test for viruses came back with elevated levels of proteins, but didn't really narrow the field of possibilities. He is urinating by himself again and I can't see any blood in it.
We are pretty much in a wait and see pattern and if he declines again putting him to sleep is likely. If we were to get a positive lymphoma diagnosis, there is a good vet oncologist near us who has had success with ferrets with lymphoma living well for 1 to 2 more years. But without a diagnosis one was or another, we are stuck.

Thanks for you well wishes and concerns.
