Thanks Tressie, Christina, and others for the information you have supplied. A related question, and a concern of my vet, is whether or not giving a deslorelin implant to a ferret without adrenal disease can cause Addisons Disease. I am actually quite sure that our boy Morphy does have adrenal disease, as he has several symptoms that are very obvious, but my vet is very conservative and is concerned that if Morphy or any other ferret is given the implant and does not have adrenal disease, that he could go into an Addisonian crisis. I have never heard of this happening, but wanted to see if I could find any information about such a situation. I know that I can have the TN panel run to verify the adrenal disease, but it costs $200 thru our vet and we've had a mountain of vet bills in the last 4 months, so I'm trying to avoid what I feel is an unnecessary test. I also want Morphy to get the implant as soon as possible, not having to wait another week or more for the test re
sults and a second vet appt., as he is starting to have urinary problems that appear to be related to an enlarged prostate. His other symptoms are very dry coat and skin, despite much supplementation of salmon oil and ferretone, hair loss that began at the base of the tail and is spreading everywhere, and increased aggression toward other ferrets.
