Hi, Marci and everyone else,

I've never heard of that either. Dosage varies with body weight. Our
original vet did the one month depot with Podo (age nine at the time)
and started low, at 100mcg, for a roughly three pound ferret. If that
wasn't sufficient he would have increased the dosage but Podo got
excellent results with 100mcg.

I'd have to look at the vet records to be certain but I believe our
current vet tried a similar dosage with Chin Soon last year. She
didn't respond and she was diagnosed with insulinoma as well so we
opted for surgery instead which worked out for the best.

Has surgery been discussed as a possibility for Loki? As you've
noticed lupron can, in time, be more expensive. If Loki is otherwise
strong and healthy he isn't too old to consider it. Podo had his
right adrenal out at age seven and a half and came through with flying
colors. Sadly, unlike most of my other ferrets, his disease did recur
less than two years later and that's when we opted for lupron.

The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet, just a ferret owner
with too much experience with adrenal disease.

All the best,
Caity and the terrific trio
Ella, Zephyr and Chin Soon
