Hi again Marci;
just a quick note after I read that Loki also has a swollen spleen,=C2=A0us=
ually this is from an infection.=C2=A0As you read Dr. Murray's post, this i=
s likely the case with Loki and=C2=A0 I wouldn't be=C2=A0too=C2=A0quick abo=
ut removal until=C2=A0he has been treated with antibiotics and the Lupron.I=
'll bet once he is on the treatments it will go back to normal. So, is your=
vet going to give him a lower dose now or is she refusing still? After all=
the advise now you must be pretty confused but you can take Dr. Murray's a=
dvice, he treats lots of ferrets. I drive all the miles to Fort Worth,TX wi=
th my ferrets and sometimes had like 4-5 adrenal surgeries done a week and =
stayed in the motor home park till all the stitches were out. So, think abo=
ut antibiotics before having his spleen taken out. Just thought I'd mention=
this.Your best bet is to get him on the =C2=A0Lupron=C2=A0 quickly, the Ca=
sodex he is on already and a round of antibiotics. this all can get=C2=A0mo=
re confusing then it needs
to be.Get the Lupron where you can get fast right now and later you can se=
arch for a cheaper place...don't you agree? It seems to take quite a long t=
ime to get the Deslorin and I wouldn't wait that long for his first does.

[Deslorelin CAN be given after Lupron has been onboard.
We have a ferret in that situation. That could be yet
another reason to go with the smaller (1 month)
size of Lupron at first. I do not know what the best
timing is on that score, though, so ask a vet who is
used to ferrets. Like Helga says, that could take care of
the weeks in between.
