Subject: [ferrethealth] two members requested some info: administrative post
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

So, I am putting what they needed and a little more to help all:

If you just hit "reply" then it will go to the list when you get
individual emails.

If you just hit "reply if you get the digest it will come to the list
but the subject line will give the digest name rather than the
subject name. Notice that on Yahoogroups if you stay with the
same subject name rather than changing then anyone who wants
to have all mails with the same subject together can select that
option in the message section and they will be bundled when a
person reads on the website. Not everyone uses the same subject
name, though, so try to not miss replies that use different subject
lines. (It pays to read all topics to learn, anyway. That can save
ferrets.)

When you get your next email of a post to which you want to
reply privately EITHER look below the post and select "reply
to sender" OR click on the name in the "from" line to bring
up the address when you need to send a private reply.

If you get the digest then just look above each message for
the address if you need to send a personal reply.

BTW, you can change how you receive the FHL (posts, digest,
web-read, etc) by clicking open the words "My Groups" near
right hand top of the homepage of any Yahoogroup to which
you belong.

If you are going to be away for a week or more (unless you
get a lot of mail in which case choose a shorter time) then
always set your address to get no mail a couple of days before
you leave, then reset it after you return. Otherwise, you may
bounce long enough to lose your memberships in groups and
have to rejoin them afterward and the moderators wind up with
loads of work due to bounces.

Also, every Yahoogroup has important URLS and emails near
the bottom of the homepages. Notice that there are automatic
joining and leaving mails. When ending an address just send a
mail from that address to the automatic unsubscribe address
there from the address you are removing, then send a mail from
the new address you are adding to the subscribe address. Be
sure to confirm these by using confirmation mails Yahoo sends.
If your mail program is tightly set those may accidently wind up
in your junk mail so always look there. That also reduces avoidable
work. If both the replies Yahoo gets and the ones we get say the
address does not work then it is removed or if it bounces for 2
weeks it is automatically removed as an abandoned address. On
rare occasion people have ISPs which say that their addresses no
longer exist. So, remember where the subscribing address is, and
save us work by unsubscribing addresses when you will leave them.

These things work for all Yahoogroups.

There is actually a lot of info which can found using the
Files section and the Links section. You will notice that you
can click those open from menu on your left at the FHL
homepage:
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ferrethealth/

Notice, too, that in the introductory paragraph on that
page there is a live link to click on to reach the FHL
Archives which are easily searched.

The FHL Rules can be found in the FHL Files section.

See, too, that there is a section that is specifically and ONLY
for ferret health photos. Those, too, can teach a decent
bit. Notice that we simply do not have enough album space to
allow any non-health photos.
