The real measure of whether a ferret is getting enough nutrition is whether
they are maintaining their body weight.

If they are steadily losing weight, they need more food and/or higher
calories in the food they're eating.

Keep at it, and try for more food in each sitting, even if they are getting
fussy.

Monitor weight closely to make sure they are holding their own.
