Good news that Rufus is improved, however, my understanding is that the range for prednisolone in an insulinomic ferret is 0.5mg/kg - 2.0mg/kg every 12 hours. And if you are giving him a concentration of 5mg/5ml that is still an awfully low dose he's getting.

I believe one of the vets who posted in response to you recommended increasing the dose to 1mg/kg.

Formula is: (Weight in Kg) multiplied by the dose (mg/kg) divided by the Prednisolone concentration (mg/ml) which would equal the volume of mL to give.

Wt(kg) x 1mg/kg
_______________ = (X)mL every 12 hours
1mg/ml

You will need to know his exact weight. For example if he weighs 1kg and you are using 5mg/5ml concentration this would work out as 1.0ml every 12 hours as per the above forumla. At minimum with the low end range being 0.5mg/kg he should be getting 0.5ml every 12 hours at a concentration of 5mg/5ml.

Hope that's clear.
