Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret Vomiting
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com, F M L <ferret-L@listserv.ferretmailinglist.org>

Other than blockages what can cause a ferret to vomit.
=A0
Yesterday in a cage with 4 ferrets I found=A0where a ferret had vomited qui=
te a few times with small amounts of thin white/clear and an amount of 5 - =
8 mls of yellowish material with chunks (undigested food)=A0
Since one of these ferrets (Bandit)=A0didn't look or act like he felt very =
good and he is recovering from ECE, we figured it was him.=A0 I was going t=
o take him in to the vet this morning when I saw a second ferret (Mufassa)=
=A0in his cage vomiting once with a small amount of white/clear fluid.=A0 A=
fter that he looked and acted fine.=A0 I was going to take both of them=A0i=
n to=A0our vet,=A0when I found out our ferret knowledgeable vet is not in t=
he office today and wont be back until tomorrow afternoon.=A0
Now a third ferret (Arriel) who is in a different cage is doing the same th=
ing vomiting small amounts of white/clear fluid with lots of dry=A0heaves=
=A0 I gave her a small amount of pepto (ferret version) and ferret lax.
=A0
Other than the one who doesn't look like he feels very good they look and a=
ct fine.=A0 No cleaning supplies or new detergents, nothing has been introd=
uced into their ferret proof play rooms or cages.=A0 Food is the same as it=
has been for the past 3 years.
=A0
Does anyone have any ideas?=A0 Could it be some type of stomach bug?
=A0
Thanks
=A0
Mike
