Hi Carol,

I agree that a visit to the vet is in order.

I have had three ferrets with insatiable appetites. All three ended up with mega-stomachs - confirmed through x-rays. That is, their stomachs were extremely distended and on necropsy all three had their entire GI tracts packed with undigested food. Unfortunately, all three had neoplasms - one had lymphoblastic sarcoma, another had lymphosarcoma and the last had adrenal carcinoma.

While these were three different kinds of cancers, of interest, each had concomitant insulinoma. Most people think cancer causes diminished appetite but for these three it did the opposite.

This is a tiny sample and therefore, shouldn't be generalized as representative of all cases of voracious appetite but may be considered as something to rule out.

I have another insulinomic senior who was recently surrendered into our care and is showing the same pattern. He is going to be seen by the vet on Monday.
