Subject: [ferrethealth] IMRAB 3: making sure it is not lost to post-corporate merger product reductions
To: fhl <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>, Ferret Mailing List <ferret-l@LISTSERV.FERRETMAILINGLIST.ORG>
Merial NEEDS to know that there is an IMRAB 3 DEPENDENT clientele.
Ferret organizations, breeders and companies which sell ferrets or
products for ferrets need to send Merial POLITE letters speaking about
how important both IMRAB 3 and Purevax for ferret CDV are, and how
many ferrets there are who need the products. If Merial does not
realize how important it is to keep IMRAB 3 this could affect the
sales base for manufacturers and advertisers, too.
Better to avoid the problem by making them aware than to try to get
the product back when the vaccine line and its experts are gone.
A SECOND possibility for rabies vaccines needs to be pursued, too, in
case IMRAB 3 goes away sooner or later.
This will be especially important to those who are in states which
legalized ferrets in the last 15 years or so. Some of those states
have the legalization of ferrets based upon two things:
1. The rabies virus shedding studies (Done.)
2. There being an approved and effective rabies vaccine for ferrets
(and it takes time and money to do the testing, then there is the time
to finalize official approval).
Hopefully, it will be produced.
This sounds like their new vaccine plant will be solely for bacterial
vaccines but I don't have a subscription so do not know:
