Hi Stacey,
Any medications you can give via sub-Q would be better than oral route because of his difficulty in swallowing. Your vet can show you how to do this.
The little guy I was looking after with MegaE was on famotidine, metoclopramide and Tramadol - all via sub-Q injections.
You probably already know that holding him upright during feeding is recommended. I finger fed him his entire meal, not syringe fed, because of the high risk of aspiration with this dreadful condition.
