Which meds are used will depend on which type of heart
disease is present.

Expect a diuretic to be used to reduce the fluid build-ups,
but there are multiple other meds which can slow heart
disease in ferrets, but not cure it. Enacard is often given
in combination with meds that are more specific to
whichever type of heart disease is present.

Some types of ferret heart disease show up on EKG/ECG;
some show up on x-rays; some need
ultrasounds/sonograms to be investigated or seen.

Because of the peripheral edema (foot swelling) the
disease is probably pretty well advanced. That usually
does not show up early in heart disease with ferrets.
The breathing problems can show up at any time in
heart disease, including early heart disease.

Sleeping more is also a heart disease symptom, as well as a
symptom of some other things.
