A moth eaten appearance to the bone typically suggests infection of the bone (osteomyelitis), diskospondylitis, or cancer of the bone (one possiblity is osteosarcoma). These conditions could result in a pathological fracture of the vertebrae leading paralysis/partial paralysis. I would think about tyring a course of clindamycin if she hasn't been on it yet, it definitely wouldn't hurt as a last resort. A WBC count is usually high with an infection. You could sure get another opinion from an oncologist but a bone biopsy would be needed to confirm the diagnosis.
Good luck.
