Subject: [ferrethealth] undescended testicles
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi everyone, wondered if somebody could help. I wanted to find something about ferrets with undescended testicles. I'm about to adopt of a breeder a one year old male which has one "ball down one ball up", pardon my language. she mentioned that he had to be neutered surgically as the testicle that didn't descend can trigger a tumor. I'm a fervent supporter of the deslorelin neuter method so I wondered if there's no alternative. ofcourse i will speak with my vet but thought to do some research on it. but I don't seem to find the right way to look in the files and old messages to find this subject. found only one item about a so called neutered male that was after all not neutered as an undescended testicle had stayed in the abdomen. (Yes, there are vets that can't count until two!) but for the rest didn't find anything about the potential 'danger' of a undescended testicle.
thanks for your reaction.

[If you go to
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/
which can be linked to from the FHL in several places
and in the box labelled
"Search message body for"
put
testicle and tumor
then leave the other boxes empty and click
search
then 23 messages come up including
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/FHL10638

Of course, other search terms or approaches can
be used.

To find the separate archives if the separate FHL Archives
has not been bookmarked a person can link from the FHL
introduction on the homepage, or from the list of important
addresses near the bottom of the homepage, or use the links
section.

I know of no actual research on deslorelin use with undropped
testes.
