Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: URGENT: Extreme pain after 5 days post-op
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I did decide to go and pick her up this evening when the kennel crew was there. I will be getting a second opinion tomorrow and did not want to keep her there alone all night.

The doctor wasn't there when I went to pick her up- he left before I did. He wrote me a letter and gave me a 40 page copy of her records. Yowsers. In his letter he told me how he did not feel she needed the metocloprimide be he filled the prescription for me since I was adamant about it. I went through all of her report and there were always improvements when they gave her the motility drug and pepcid and when they took her off she declined. I don't know why he had fought me so hard on that drug.

I checked her stool in the cage at the vet, they are green sticky globs again. (report says they are normal!) She is miserable. All she does is grind if you touch her or if she is moving around she freezes and grinds. I wish I knew where the pain was located. A part of me is also wondering if this whole experience has traumatized her and the grinding is stress related. Her incision has healed nicely and it has been 11 days since op so I didn't make her go in the sick cage. She has always free roamed so I let her go to her normal sleepy spots in hopes this will help reduce stress. I am just going to reduce the roaming area to 3 safe rooms. I am trying not to mess with her too much.

I have an appointment for a 2nd opinion tomorrow. Hopefully we will find a way to make her comfortable and start a treatment plan and if lucky, get a diagnoses. We'll see.

Thank you everyone for your help. I am filled with gratitude.
