To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com, F M L <ferret-L@listserv.ferretmailinglist.org>

[ ECE info, a MUST READ to protect the sick ones
AND prevent further sick ones (because the virus
sheds for as long as 8 months):

http://www.afip.org/consultation/vetpath/ferrets/ECE/ECE.html

Testing to see if even is ECE and to help advance
knowledge about ECE and even maybe help toward
easier testing and a future vaccine for both types
of ECE (the enteric type and the type that has symptoms
like FIP symptoms):

I weighed him this evening and he weighed 2 lbs 1.8 ounces.=A0 That is 1.8 =
ounces more than on Saturday.
=A0
He looks like he feels some better but not 100% and during the last feeding=
I had just a slight bit of trouble getting him to eat all the baby food I =
had prepared.=A0 I've been feeding him 1/2 jar of baby food every 3 - 4 hou=
rs today so maybe he was a bit full.=A0 Tomorrow we should be able to feed =
him 4 times from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm.
=A0
We will continue to monitor his weight and how he eats.=A0 I'm going to con=
tinue with the baby food and water for now (I don't want to rock the boat w=
ith him eating).=A0 Once he passes 2 lbs 3 ounces I will experiment with a/=
d mixed with his baby food and may try the pureed chicken again.
=A0
Thanks to all who have offered advice and information.=A0 I only know a lit=
tle bit about ECE and that is it can take anywhere from 3 - 12 months (or m=
ore) for them to get over it.=A0 I've noticed that=A0 he will do and look w=
ell for a day or two then for several days he wont look that good, then he'=
ll have a day maybe two where he will look a little better then back to not=
looking like he feels that good.=A0 This was the first time we had him los=
e weight and not really want eat during a not feeling very good spell.
