You're not over thinking. Any hair loss, anywhere on the body, with or without blackheads, and with or without any other symptoms, is a likely sign of adrenal disease. If you want to investigate further you can ask your vet to run the ferret adrenal panel (run by the U of Tenn). The sooner you catch it the better, best not to wait.
