I disagree with your vet. In my experience (9 years, 28 ferrets, all but my youngest....which were started on lupron at a young age as a hopeful preventative....affected by adrenal disease), I have seen surgery be helpful (though not curative) in only case. For the rest, including bilaterals, symptoms never ceased. The problem with surgery is that it does not address the disease at the pituitary level, and with the pituitary still pumping out hormones the disease continues. I would suggest asking your vet to run the ferret adrenal panel (run by the U of Tenn). I'd bet you will find your ferret is indeed still having adrenal issues.
