Hi KB,

There is a HIGH probability that what she has is adrenal disease. As we have already seen from the various posts, adrenal surgery in some cases is curative, in others it is not.

Lethargy would be consistent with insulinoma as you have indicated she now has. Although she is dealing with quite a bit of stuff if she is still recovering from ECE, liver disease, etc., which would also add to her feeling lethargic.

The good about prednisolone is that it works to manage insulinoma, the bad is that it is an immuno-suppressive, that is, it suppresses the immune system. She would be at more risk of getting an infection in that swollen vulva now that she is on pred. However, she is also receiving antibiotics currently.

Curious why Clavamox was chosen rather than Amoxicillin alone? Clavamox is known to exacerbate GI issues, which this ferret already has.

Does she have liver disease or an infection in the liver? The Amoxicillin would help if it is an infection such as suppurative hepatitis, but may require a longer treatment course. I had a ferret who was diagnosed with suppurative hepatitis concommittant with EGE through biopsies taken. She was put on Amoxicillin for a month to clear up the liver infection, which it did.

I think the likelihood is that you are seeing clinical symptoms of adrenal disease surfacing again and would treat her accordingly. Tennessee panel would confirm. However, it is expensive and takes time. I would get her started on Lupron Depot right away whether or not you pursue the Tennessee panel.
