Subject: [ferrethealth] update on Mornie and Hilbert who both have deslorelin implants
To: fhl <>

Mornie, now about 6.5 years old, has what is probably a carcinoma
which is about 2cm in size. Hilbert, now about 7.5 years old, has
hidden hormone producing adrenal tissue somewhere. (He lost both
adrenals when young because they were badly inflamed by bilateral
hydronephrosis -- history on that in the separate, complete FHL
Archives -- but some remained under an emergency vascular clamp.)

Both got deslorelin implants on 2/27/10, when Mornie weighed 1.81
pounds, and Hilbert weighed 2.5 pounds.

Hilbert is also dealing with insulinoma and Addison's risk, and he
needs Fludrocort and Prednisolone. Hilbert also has a history of a
repaired bladder diverticulum.

Both have a history of cystine uroliths and have mild neural crest
genetic variation markings.

Mornie has non-mast cell skin tumors but we don't know if they are
sebaceous epitheliomas, hemangiomas, or hemangiosarcomas.

Since Mornie is basically inoperable (not doing well with surgery
normally so Cava ligation is totally out) we are going with quality of
life choices for her while Hilbert has required more aggressive
approaches such as the recent debulking of a very large pancreatic
tumor which had a location that prevented full removal.

Mornie is more active than Hilbert. You would never know from her
behavior that she is ill though her appearance makes it obvious.
Hilbert still enjoys life at a slower pace while Mornie dashes and

Both had a large improvement in attitude, and energy soon after their
implants. We are now about 3 and 1/2 months since the implants and
both are starting to regrow fur.
