To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>
Thank you for the replies both on and off list. In case it helps anyone, I got generic Biaxin from Sam's Club for around $28.00 and I while I'm not sure, I don't think you have to have a membership to purchase prescriptions there. Other pharmacies were quoting $48-58 for the same size bottle and strength. It had to be ordered, but I got a 50ml bottle of 250/5ml strength so less can be given. So far, my ferret hasn't minded the taste or texture (though this is the ferret who likes the taste of Pepto and despises Carafate).
Thanks again.
[The generic is
clarithromycin
and there are several makers of the generic
now as well as multiple vendors, so be sure
to compare generics to generics rather than
generics to originals for any medication that
now has generic. When the generics work well
they can save a lot of money for veterinary
medications as well as human prescriptions.
We've found that one of our ferrets prefers
the flavor of one of the generic Prednisolones
over the original Pediapred. It certainly can
happen.
