Subject: [ferrethealth] Oreo Ragan: Is it time or is there something to try?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

HI all:

First, a huge thank you for all the help and support last fall. Oreo
recovered very well - the hair even grew back on her tail.

About a week ago, we noticed that her hind end was weak. In a couple of
days, it was near non-functional. Took her to the vet last Thursday. She
had fluids and was placed on Clavamox and Prednisolone. In the past, her
fasting blood tests were normal (6 months ago).

Her condition is best described as neurological in nature ... her hind end
is worst, but her front end is not good either. She doesn't seem to have
balance at all. She appears to be near blind (cataracts).

Note that she was not injured ... she has the run of my bedroom and was not
stepped on, nor did she fall.

Is there something else we can do to restore quality of life for our little
gal? Surgery is not an option for Oreo. She is a senior citizen (we
estimate her age at 8ish years old).

Thank you -

Tamera Ragan in South Bend, IN
