Subject: [ferrethealth] testing for ADV
To: ferret health <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>
Can anyone tell me if the tests done on mink for ADV would be useful in testing for ADV in ferrets?
Thanks

[No idea if these or other resources will help,
but since places went to the trouble of making
ferret specific tests there may be problems using
mink tests. Otherwise, why spend so much labor
and money? Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable
about ADV nuances will have your answer.

in the CIEP section says that test originally developed
for ferrets has uncertain sensitivity in ferrets (This is
from 3 years ago.)
Here are a few of the past FHL posts on ADV (Aleutian
Disease Virus). BTW, so that everyone knows: AD is the
abbreviation for Aleutian Disease, so either is correctly
used in this situation. (Some people mistakenly use AD
for adrenal disease, causing a lot of confusion when that
happens.)
