Subject: [ferrethealth] Sprout has crossed the bridge
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com, F M L <ferret-L@listserv.ferretmailinglist.org>

I'm sorry to report that Sprout crossed the bridge this evening.=A0 We had =
him to our vet and he checked him over and was very concerned.=A0 He did a =
needle aspiration of an abdominal lymph node but it didn't show anything.
=A0
Sprout had very loose brown (chocolate brown) stools, a small nose bleed, a=
nd his temp was 99.something.
=A0
Our vet=A0told us that we=A0could take him to a veterinary specialist in De=
troit or Chicago.=A0=A0We got to the vet at closing time=A0so we planned on=
returning=A0tomorrow for blood work.=A0 He also recommend we give him hill=
s z/d, which is an anti allergy food.=A0 We took him home and I prepared th=
e z/d but when I went to get him he was very limp and cold.=A0 We took him =
to the after hours clinic and helped him over the bridge.
=A0
We plan on getting a necropsy so I will update everyone with what we find.
=A0
Thank you to everyone for the numerous suggestions and encouragement.

Mike

[I am sorry to read this news, Mike. Yes, a necropsy with pathology
is the way to go. You are doing the right thing.

For a ferret that temperature at time of examination was very low.=20
101 or 102'F is normal for a ferret (sometimes 103 *if* the ferret has
just been very active)

Others: please, remember the FHL rule and if your reply contains
no new health information send your sympathies directly to Mike
instead of to the list. Many thanks.
