Subject: [ferrethealth] warts pathology question, and a leg injury
To: fhl <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Mornie was at the vet's again today and will be on Friday and
Saturday for follow-up laser treatments for an injury. For the most
part she is doing very well and until today living life at a gallop.

First the question (copied Bcc to two ferret veterinary pathologists,
too):
Is the fungus species which causes warts in both ferrets and humans
the same species? I ask because my husband has a hard to treat one
still remaining, and Mornie has also developed three.

Why Mornie is not at a gallop right now:
Pivot got too rough with her again this morning. It's been well over
a year since Piv was too rough with Mornie (though she often tries
more gentling bullying because the two do not get along), but this
time she was too rough and Mornie twisted a leg. There is no break
but she has swelling of the metatarsal-tarsal joint area, so today
involved x-rays, and laser treatment. We came home with opiod pain
meds because she is already on Prednisolone for her inoperable
carcinoma and her mild insulinoma, so no NSAIDs. She now owns the
back bathroom which will be her room while she heals.

Hilbert already can't be in the regular cage at night -- he's in his
final, slow illness, too -- and we suspect that Mornie won't be in
there at night any longer now, even after she is healed.

Sukie (not a vet)
